In his current role, Harold focuses on strategic initiatives that support member services, government relations, statewide partnerships, and economic development. His leadership continues to be a driving force in expanding the Council’s influence and impact, with a focus on fostering growth and opportunity for manufacturers throughout the region.

Driven by a vision that extended far beyond coffee, Elias set out to energize his hometown—creating opportunities, supporting local culture, and building a brand that reflects Utica’s resilience and grit. Known for its distinctive personality and products like the fan-favorite Wake The Hell Up! blend, Utica Coffee embodies his commitment to creativity, authenticity, and quality.

Before founding Utica Coffee, Elias built a diverse professional background spanning manufacturing, distribution, and academia. He contributed to workforce and business development through roles at Herkimer College and Mohawk Valley Community College, where he developed training programs for local businesses. His leadership as President of the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce further highlights his deep commitment to regional economic growth.

Through strategic partnerships with local businesses, artists, and nonprofits, Elias has embedded Utica Coffee into the fabric of the community—helping to drive economic development and foster local pride. His entrepreneurial mindset, willingness to take risks, and dedication to his hometown have positioned Utica Coffee as more than a company—it is a symbol of Utica’s ongoing revitalization.

In recognition of his impact, Elias was named the Business Person of the Year by the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce, honoring his leadership, vision, and continued investment in the community.

A graduate of Hamilton College and Albany Law School, where she was Managing Editor of the Journal of Science and Technology, Heather’s professional background includes high-value technology transfer transactions, intellectual property policy, strategic planning, venture development, and the practice of law before New York State and federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. Heather is the recipient of various honors and awards, including SUNY’s 2015 Woman of Excellence award for outstanding service, exemplary support of women in leadership, and a distinguished career.  ​

Most recently, Heather received the Mohawk Valley YWCA’s 2023 Salute to Outstanding Women for community leadership in STEAM and accepted two Business of the Year awards for the GI from the Mohawk Valley and Rome Area Chambers of Commerce in 2022. Heather has served on the board of directors of various nonprofit technology startup incubators and economic development organizations across New York State and is a currently a sitting board member for SUNY Polytechnic Institute Foundation and the New York Center for Research, Economic Advancement, Technology, Engineering, and Science (NY-CREATES).  ​
