New York State not-for-profit organizations that partner with an eligible New York State small to medium-sized manufacturer. In the case of a university, up to three different centers or departments may apply, provided that the subset of the university, such as college, school or department, is identified in the application form.
Applicants must complete the online application at https://fuzehub.smapply.io/. Applicants will be required to create a SurveyMonkey Apply account in order to submit an application. Applications that do not include all required items may be deemed incomplete and may be rejected without further review. A complete application includes the following uploads: project description, project budget, letter(s) of commitment from the company/companies benefiting from the project, and conflict of interest acknowledgement (university/ college applicants only).
The application period opens on March 1, 2021 and closes promptly at 4:00PM EST on March 31, 2021. Allow enough time to answer all of the application questions and to upload all required files before 4:00PM. Changes can be made to an application as long as it has not been submitted yet and the application period has not closed. If the application is submitted in the specified timeline, applicants will receive a confirmation email. There will be no exceptions for this deadline.
There is a $75 fee for each submitted application. A receipt from FuzeHub will be sent to the SurveyMonkey Apply account owner’s email address. The receipt will show the amount paid and the last 4 digits of the credit card used but it will not refer to the FuzeHub application itself.
A DUNS number is a unique nine-digit identification number provided by Dun & Bradstreet (D&B). The DUNS number is site-specific. Therefore, each distinct physical location of an entity (such as branches, divisions, and headquarters) may be assigned a DUNS #. NAICS was designed and documented in such a way to allow business establishments to self-code. There are a number of tools and references available to help you to determine the most appropriate NAICS code for your business. You can use this Search Tool to find any NAICS code quickly and easily.
Each application will be evaluated based on the following criteria: (Please review the guidelines for specific details on each scoring criteria.)
- Degree to which the project is transformational, unique, and/or will lead to new or improved products or technologies;
- Expected impact on the company/companies involved in terms of relevant factors such as new/retained sales, cost savings, new investment, and/or jobs;
- Project readiness, team qualifications, and team capacity;
- Reasonableness of budget and use of funds; and
- Alignment with the FuzeHub Manufacturing Grant mission to encourage collaboration between not-for-profit organizations in New York State and small to medium-sized manufacturing companies.
FuzeHub does not make any claim to IP ownership from grant applications to the Fund. IP ownership is determined by the applicant team (the not-for-profit and the company/companies in the application), and not something that FuzeHub has a preferred policy for. FuzeHub treats each application as confidential. Additionally, all selection panelists who score applications have signed panelist agreements with confidentiality clauses, and treat each application as confidential. However, all confidential or proprietary information, including confidential IP, should be clearly marked as such where it appears.

The maximum number of characters includes spaces. These are indeed counted in characters and not words. Most document applications will show a character count, and there are several online tools available to assist in determining character count.
FuzeHub has implemented a system that allows applicants to save their data and return to the application until the application has been submitted. Once the application is submitted, applicants will no longer be able to make changes. Applicants should not submit the application until completely satisfied with the answers.
An applicant may add collaborators to the application team as needed. Please note that collaborators will also be required to create SurveyMonkey Apply accounts. Collaborators will not be able to submit the application – only the main applicant has access to the

Once an applicant has formally submitted an application and has received a confirmation email, no further changes can be made to the application. (It is possible to make changes to the application until the 4:00PM EST deadline on March 31, 2021 as long as the application has not been submitted.) Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline to avoid potential time-related technical issues. If you receive an error message while submitting your application, please immediately contact FuzeHub at 518-768-7030 and FuzeHub staff will work with you to resolve the issue.
No, notifications are not sent to the company/companies identified in the application; award notifications are made directly to the not-for-profit applicant only. FuzeHub encourages all applicants to inform the partnering company/companies listed in the application of the Manufacturing Grant award status.
It is anticipated that the award announcement for the March 2021 Manufacturing Grants will be posted to the FuzeHub website in June 2021. Dates are subject to change.
