Amtrack Board will Award Hornell’s Alstom Start of $2.5 Billion Program to build Safer, Next Generation High-Speed Trains

“U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today announced that the Amtrak Board of Directors are expected to vote this week to support finalization of negotiations with Alstom provide new Next Generation High-Speed trains for Amtrak’s Acela Express service as part of a $2.5 billion program that will create over 750 jobs, including 400 jobs directly at Alstom in Hornell.”

Ossining manufacturer builds $4.8M factory in Sullivan County

“Metallized Carbon Corp., a manufacturer of self-lubricating machine components for industrial uses headquartered in Ossining, will expand its Hudson Valley operations with the construction of a 15,000-square-foot factory in Fallsburg in Sullivan County, Empire State Development officials announced.”

Tech Farm looks to expand: Directors Look to Create More Space for Manufacturing for Food and Beverage Firms

“The Cornell Agriculture & Food Technology Park started out with a plan to create a research-centered site focusing on developing new food and beverage industries, a goal that has been accomplished. But now there’s even a greater need for manufacturing space. ‘The purpose of what we’re doing has changed,’ said John Johnson, executive director of what many people call the Tech Farm on Pre-Emption Road. ‘We’re much more manufacturer-oriented.'”

Astronics lands $5 million contract for F-16 project

“Astronics Corporation announced it will be working with an undisclosed country that is building a fleet of F-16 aircraft. The contract is worth $5 million and is being administered through the U.S. government’s foreign military sales program. It covers both design and development as well as product production, according to a statement from the East Aurora company.”

U.S. Energy Secretary Coming to Rochester

“U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz is slated to visit the University of Rochester later this year, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer announced Wednesday. The time and date hasn’t been set, but Moniz is slated to visit UR laser energetics laboratory.”

Momentive makes “final” Offer in Union Contract Negotiations

“Sealant and resin manufacturer Momentive Performance Materials has made a “final” offer to its 745 union employees as the company seeks to end two months of contract negotiations. The Waterford, New York, company is the fourth largest manufacturer in the Albany region with 1,000 employees who make silicone materials used in electronics, construction and a wide range of auto parts from ignition cables and powertrain seals to door panels and car wax.”

Gowanda Electronics Parent Co. buys Pennsylvania Business, expects to move team to WNY

“Gowanda Components Group has purchased its fourth company in five years. GCG – which is the parent company of Gowanda Electronics – has purchased Butler Winding, of Butler, Pennsylvania. Terms of the deal were not disclosed but a GCG news release said it is anticipated that Butler Winding will relocate to GCG’s facilities in Arcade, N.Y.”
