Objective/Summary:
FuzeHub serves small to medium sized manufacturers by making connections and introductions to the appropriate resources and programs available to assist in their growth through a variety of programs and activities. In its role as the Statewide New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center, and under an agreement with Pennsylvania MEP (PA MEP) under a grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, FuzeHub seeks to hire a part-time Advanced Robotics Lead.
The Advanced Robotics Lead will be based primarily at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy and FuzeHub’s offices in Albany. This individual will serve as a liaison between small and mid-sized manufacturers in New York State and the Advanced Robotics in Manufacturing (ARM) Institute. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and FuzeHub co-lead the nation-wide ARM Institute’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Robotics Innovation Collaborative.
Job Accountability:
- Engage with internal and external partners to identify supporting and enabling technologies, processes, tools and training necessary for adoption of advanced robotics by small and mid-sized manufacturers (SMMs)
- Develop, sell, and pilot consulting services that transfer advanced robotics technologies to small and mid-sized manufacturers
- Build partnerships to assist with outreach and services delivery
- Track and meet project quantitative and qualitative goals
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a New York MEP and PA MEP resource partnering with the Advanced Robotics in Manufacturing (ARM) Institute
- Identify trends, industry drivers, and technology gaps across manufacturers in the northeast
- Maintain awareness of the latest advances and developments in key advanced robotics technologies, processes and enablers
- Assist in MEP robotics and automation service development including ideation, research, feasibility, development, assessment, validation, deployment and transition. Work with PA MEP, RPI, and FuzeHub to support the development of such capabilities in the MEP system
- Submit detailed progress reports
- Assist in developing and lead the New York State dissemination of educational and training capabilities for skills development to support implementation of automation and robotics technologies by SMMs
- Follow all company policies and procedures
Desired Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering. A Master’s degree in the appropriate discipline and a relevant experience will be considered competitive but is not required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience across a broad range of automation or advanced manufacturing technologies
- Strong understanding of product development, product and manufacturing engineering, advanced manufacturing, supply chain management, and procurement
- Broad knowledge of business strategy, business development, marketing, solution selling
- Ability to define and articulate strategies as well as the key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve them
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, articulate and pioneer initiatives
- Project leadership using program/project management skills to achieve on time project deliverables
- Ability to independently organize and prioritize multiple tasks to ensure timely completion
- Must be creative, self-motivated, and be able to effectively pioneer programs with minimal direct supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and presentation skills
- The ability to resolve issues while maintaining good working relationships with partners, clients and internal employees
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience building partnerships
- Familiar with technology transfer methodologies used by universities, labs and Manufacturing USA institutes is a plus
