I attended the NEXT 2013 conference in Syracuse on November 13th. The event, focused on Technology, Manufacturing and Innovation, was a great platform for demonstrating the nexus between the manufacturing and technology industry. One clear demonstration of this was Dr. John Wen’s (RPI CATS) presentation, entitled Co-Robots: Robots and Humans Work and Live Together in Harmony?
The focus of his presentation was on the new type of industrial robots that don’t just perform repetitive tasks, but are more interactive. They now have pervasive sensors, better actuators, and an improved mechanical design. The conference also featured four tracks based on Innovation & Commercialization, Technology Trends, Manufacturing Excellence, and Entrepreneurship, and was very well attended—attracting more than 250 people. I am looking forward and encourage more events that showcase these types of discussions and industry specific presentations.
Congratulations to CNYTDO and the CASE, Syracuse University on a successful event.
