In our third feature in our New York State Assets blog series on Advanced Materials, we focus on the groundbreaking work at the University at Buffalo. Their Department of Materials Design and Innovation focuses on accelerating lab discoveries into practical engineering applications. They are pioneering new approaches in material science education and research, leveraging technologies like AI and manufacturing to rapidly design and discover new materials for industry.
Highlighting UB’s accomplishments is in harmony with FuzeHub’s goal of educating and involving New York’s manufacturing and tech sector in the state’s innovative environment. We bring attention to a variety of narratives, ranging from startup ideas to advanced research, that originate from research institutions and resources across the Empire State.
Our goal is to establish Upstate NY as a leading global hub for materials innovation within the next ten years. By fostering collaboration among diverse partners and cultivating a skilled workforce, we aim to drive sustainable manufacturing practices, tackle environmental issues, strengthen circular economy principles, and nurture the development of innovative products, processes, and businesses.
