GE’s Energy Startup Plans to Install Solar Panels in Albany Area
“General Electric’s renewable energy startup, Current, is installing New York’s largest solar carport in Schenectady, as well as a ground unit in North Greenbush. The locations are expected to save more than $2.2 million in energy costs over 20 years. The Schenectady location will save $1.5 million in energy costs over 20 years. It will offset emissions equal to removing 7,900 cars from the road.”

“Greater Rochester Enterprise Inc. on Thursday announced its 2016 Upstate New York Trade Conference designed to help regional companies enter foreign markets. The conference, slated to be held June 10 at the Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside, will include topics such as the local impact of globalization, international marketing and trade finance.”

Ted Cruz Rally Draws Schenectady Manufacturing CEO, Scotia Energy Company President
“The Albany region saw its second presidential candidate this week when Ted Cruz stepped on stage today at a private Christian school in Scotia.
The senator from Texas, vying for the Republican nomination against New York businessman Donald Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, said he wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act, institute a flat tax, abolish the IRS and restrain federal regulators to revitalize the economy.”

“Elizabeth Miller has secured financing for her next expansion at Doty Machine Works in Fort Edward, New York. The owner of Miller Mechanical, a Glens Falls paper mill maintenance business and parts fabrication shop, expanded her portfolio 18 months ago and more than doubled her payroll when she acquired Doty, a 65-year-old machine shop.”

3-D Printer Pioneer MakerBot Shrinks Brooklyn Manufacturing Space
MakerBot, the 3-D printing company that became the poster child for Brooklyn’s creative manufacturing renaissance, is slashing its production space by more than 25% in the borough. The company shed 65,000 square feet at Industry City, the sprawling commercial complex in Sunset Park. It also vacated another 25,000 square feet that it continues to lease at the property.”
