As a registered FuzeHub resource, I just wanted to give a quick update on the 2013 Life Sciences Summit I attended last week.  The 2013 Life Sciences Summit was held November 20 -21, 2013 in the Convene Center (formerly Sentry Towers) at 730 Third Ave in New York City.  The Life Sciences Summit is dedicated to bringing emerging companies and innovators together with capital and industry in a setting that facilitates collaboration and networking. The Summit’s robust program featured Business Leaders, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Emerging Companies and Innovators – all with goal of accelerating the development of new therapies to address unmet medical needs.  The summit had a three track approach; Key Opinion Leader Sessions involving high-level academic/industry presentations/discussions on state-of-art activity and developments, Business Workshop Sessions presenting/discussing strategic business practices when managing/launching start-ups; and, Summit Showcase Sessions which afforded Emerging Companies (28-total) and/or Strategic Partner Companies (12-total) the opportunity to pitch/represent themselves to a panel of Pitch Doctors – seasoned VC’s and Business Development executives – in the room to help provide feedback on their presentations.  Additionally, there were Plenary Sessions at the start, middle and end of each day which served a general audience and presented a more ethereal view/topic involving the biotechnology sector as a whole.

As a result of the 2013 Life Sciences Summit; 295 people benefited from the programs and offerings (including 92 participants, 45 presenters, 84 speakers, 60 sponsors and 14 staff); and, 186 companies either attended or participated; or both.
