FuzeHub invites you to join us for the New York State Innovation Summit on October 7-8, 2019 at the Rochester Convention Center in Rochester, New York. In collaboration with Empire State Development’s (ESD) Division of Science, Technology & Innovation (NYSTAR), we’re hosting this multi-day event for NYS organizations that want to showcase and discover new and emerging technologies that support innovation and drive business growth.
Whether you’re a startup, an entrepreneur, an economic developer, or an established manufacturer, the NYS Innovation Summit is for you. NYSTAR-funded assets, as well as government and university resources, are also invited to attend this two-day event, which is part of the NYSTAR Annual Meeting. The following sections explain why you should attend and how to register so that you can take advantage of discounts and make the most of your event experience. The sooner you sign-up, the more you’ll save.
Why You Should Attend
The NYS Innovation Summit features expert speakers on timely topics and exhibit space for cutting-edge companies. Choose from three technology tracks and attend the breakout sessions that most interest you:
- Disruptive Technologies
- Sustainability & Energy
You’ll also learn valuable lessons at the general sessions – and the agenda continues to grow.
Here’s a look of what you’ll learn
Day 1 Preview
For all event participants, morning registration and exhibits are followed by a lunchtime update from ESD. There’s also an opportunity to listen to speed pitching by a select group of NYS innovators, a general session called “Risks & Rewards of Emerging Technology”, and an evening welcome reception and exhibit.
The day’s Disruptive Technologies track includes breakout sessions called “The Intersection of IoT and AI” and “Critical Materials for the U.S. Economy”. The presenters for the second session, which will cover rare earth elements (REEs), are Steven J. Duclos of GE Research and Eric Williams of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
The Commercialization Track features a breakout session called “Navigating Start-Up Capital” that will cover some of the most important things that entrepreneurs need to succeed. The presenters include Colin Touhey of PVILION and Josh Aviv of SparkCharge. The menu for the Sustainability & Energy track is a breakout session called “The Future of Food”.
Day 2 Preview
After exhibits and breakfast, Day 2 begins in earnest with a keynote presentation by Michael G. Field, CEO of The Raymond Corporation, called “Technology and the Workforce of Tomorrow.” Named to Fast Company’s 2019 Most Innovative Companies list, The Raymond Corporation is using its Raymond Virtual Reality Simulator to enhance the education of forklift operators.
“Advances in Manufacturing,” a presentation about Manufacturing USA® by Mark Poliks, Director of the Center for Advanced Microelectronics Manufacturing (NextFlex) at Binghamton University, will follow. Later, a lunchtime keynote speaker will provide an exclusive industry perspective. Kirk Marcolini, President of InteliSpark, will present “Funding Your Innovation” later that afternoon.
The day’s Disruptive Technologies track features breakout sessions called “Trends in Biotechnology” and “New Waves of Materials for Additive”. Dr. Bradley Ringeisen of DARPA is the speaker for the first session.
