2020 Cybersecurity Assistance Grant Registration Opens

Between opportunists looking for a quick payday, hostile state actors, and those just looking to cause chaos, cybersecurity has become an incredibly important topic for manufacturers all across New York State. That goes double for those working within the Department of Defense supply chain, who are often working with controlled unclassified information (CUI) and other sensitive materials.
Whether you hold the contract yourself, or you’ve been subcontracted to make a specific part, you already need to hold your company to the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) cybersecurity requirements detailed in NIST SP 800-171. In the future, you’ll also need to meet an appropriate level of Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) if you want to retain your contract and bid on future contracts.
To that end we are excited to announce the 2020 Cybersecurity Assistance Grant, which will feature a new Cybersecurity Cohort. This cohort was created to help New York State manufacturers within the DoD supply chain learn how to perform a self-assessment based on NIST SP 800-171 and meet their current DFARS cybersecurity requirements. We are also offering a funding opportunity for a guided, personalized assessment for eligible manufacturers whose DFARS compliance is inhibited due to financial restraints such as staff and financial resources.
You can learn about this cohort, how to apply for funding, as well as other important cybersecurity topics during our new series of webinars and workshops that kick off Tuesday, September 22nd at 11 a.m. with an “Introduction to Cybersecurity.” This webinar, featuring speakers Cory Albrecht, Paul LaPorte, and Everton H. Henriques, will teach manufacturers the benefits of joining our cohort, how to apply for grant funding for the guided assessment, how to be proactive with their cybersecurity, and more.
