A Place for Startups: New York State Certified Business Incubators

At more than 20 locations across the state, early-stage companies are sharing physical space and administrative staff while benefiting from coaching, mentoring and networking opportunities; prototype development assistance; and access to capital and technical services.
These businesses are taking advantage of the Certified Business Incubators supported by Empire State Development’s Division of Science, Technology & Innovation (NYSTAR). This statewide network has created a culture of innovation and success, with ground-level services that make a significant difference in the life of a start-up.
One prime example is the Brooklyn Fashion & Design Accelerator (BF&DA) at Pratt Institute, which helps emerging apparel brands become technology-savvy, environmentally conscious, and ethically-run businesses. The goal of BF&DA is to turn micro-companies into small businesses with annual revenue between $250,000 and $500,000, ready to stand on their own. To learn more, watch the video.
