National Grid, NYSEG, and Central Hudson
Utility companies in New York State offer incentives that help reduce the cost of retrofitting lighting, heating, cooling, commercial kitchen equipment, motors, and controls, etc. Flexible payment plans can help spread the cost of improvements over a 12-month period and can be paid directly through your utility bill. CEG SolarGEN
The Center for Economic Growth’s SolarGEN program is a collaborative solar procurement initiative designed to lower the barriers for manufacturers and commercial organizations to add solar electricity generation to their businesses. CEG vets a selection of solar providers based on their certifications, experience, equipment and pricing to find the best fit for your organization. These providers will then place bids for your facilities based on an established criteria and baseline price. SolarGEN makes it easy to turn a non-productive area, like a roof, into a value-adding part of your organization.
CEG is the New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center for the Capital Region and designed the SolarGEN program specifically based upon the needs of the Capital Region manufacturing community.
NYSP2I
The New York State Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP2I) is a statewide research and technology transfer center funded by the Environmental Protection Fund as administered by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), located at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and partnered with three additional universities. Their goal is to provide full geographic coverage of pollution prevention programs and services to businesses across New York State.
NYSP2I’s areas of technical expertise include the following: improving efficiency and reducing the environmental footprint of a manufacturing process or facilities; independent product technology assessments, validation and effectiveness studies for commercialization acceleration; supply chain sustainability assessments, strategy, and implementation; food waste reduction and landfill diversion; and building re-tuning training for energy reduction opportunities.
New York Green Business
The New York Green Business program (NYGB) is run by the New York State Department of Conservation and offers recognition, resources and incentives for organizations in New York State to implement a wide range sustainable business practices into their operations. It’s a win-win for everyone as these organizations cut costs through more efficient energy usage, and New York State becomes a more energy efficient and sustainable business environment. Members receive the benefit of a network of NYBG member organizations to collaborate and spread solutions to what may be common energy efficiency problems among member organizations.
