On Tuesday, July 26, 2016, Congressman Tom Reed (NY-23) hosted his second annual Manufacturing Summit in Corning, New York. The daylong event was held at the Corning-Painted Post High School and attracted 100 attendees from local manufacturing, economic development, and service organizations.
The day featured a number of panels addressing the concerns of manufacturers. Panel topics included: Developing the Workforce Manufacturers Need to Succeed; Looking Ahead: Advanced Manufacturing in the 21st Century; Policy Solutions for American Manufacturers; and Growing your Business through Public Private Partnerships.
FuzeHub’s industry engagement manager, Amber Mooney, participated in the panel “Growing your Business through Public Private Partnerships” and discussed how FuzeHub works with manufacturers to leverage state assets to grow their businesses.
Mooney also talked about FuzeHub’s forthcoming Manufacturing Innovation Fund which will support a set of activities designed to spur technology development and commercialization across New York State, including Manufacturing Innovation Grants.
The Manufacturing Innovation Grants will help offset the costs to non-profit organizations and universities working with companies on projects to advance their manufacturing capabilities. The grant program will be launched this fall.
The day’s panelists provided information on a number of resources available to manufacturers for workforce development, product development and innovation, and access to state resources that could benefit their businesses. There were also tax experts available, and the final panel of the day featured additional state and federal representatives who discussed how they were developing policies that will benefit manufacturers.
FuzeHub’s participation in events such as these are instrumental in connecting our team of manufacturing experts to companies in need of resources or solutions to grow their business.
