GE opens wind turbine repair innovation lab in Albany

Repairing a wind turbine gearbox several hundred feet in the air is no easy task, and it can get downright expensive and time-consuming if you have to rent a crane to remove and deliver parts. General Electric Co., in search of a better way, on Wednesday opened what it’s calling its Global Wind Turbine Repair Innovation Lab in Albany, to develop faster and more efficient processes to make on-site repairs, all the while emphasizing safety.
