GlobalFoundries Expanding Presence in China with New Chip Plant

“GlobalFoundries is partnering, through a joint venture, with the government of Chongqing to open a chip plant in the southwest China city. The project includes upgrading an existing, older computer chip plant to make 300mm wafers. Production is scheduled for 2017.”

First look at Hudson Valley’s $14 million Manufacturing Center

“Hudson Valley Community College has released preliminary drawings of the proposed $14 million advanced manufacturing center that it plans to start building in April 2017. The training center is expected to serve as a national model for preparing students to operate computer-controlled lathes, mills, grinders and three-dimensional printers to help resolve a growing shortage in the manufacturing industry.”
