Empire State Development’s Division of Science, Technology & Innovation (NYSTAR) has made available two temporary grant programs. Click here for the programs’ formal guidelines and application forms. In both grant programs, companies can apply directly for funds, or organizations providing assistance to eligible companies can apply. Awards are for a maximum of $50,000 and require 20% cost share.
Manufacturing Technology Advancement Grants. These grants are for improving manufacturers’ profitability through adoption of technologies into processes or development and/or commercialization of new technologies or products, with a focus on 1) integrated photonics; 2) additive manufacturing; 3) digital manufacturing; or 4) composites. The grants are made possible through an initiative under which the New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership is increasing the impact of the Manufacturing USA network on manufacturers in New York State. Questions can be directed to Alyson Slack ([email protected]).
Defense Industry Assistance Grants. These grants are intended to help defense suppliers and Department of Defense SBIR/STTR awardees diversify their customer base through product development or redesign, new market identification and strategies, export training, and other projects. The grants are made possible through a NYSTAR partnership with the Department of Defense’s Office of Economic Adjustment. Questions can be directed to Daniel Friedman ([email protected]).
