GE, SUNY Poly Looking For Partners To Join $500M Consortium
“Danielle Merfeld, head of General Electric’s power electronics unit, said she’s looking for partners to help build a silicon carbide chip fab at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The search is part efforts to grow the $500 million New York Power Electronics Manufacturing Consortium, announced last July, which is focused on development of silicon carbide computer chips.”

Nanotech Startups Struggling To Find Suppliers
“Benjamin Mitchell, vice president of administration at Thermoaura, said the startup struggles with finding committed semiconductor suppliers. Thermoaura, based in Colonie, New York, makes thermo-electric materials for application in smart cooling and heating. The company uses a process that when cooked in a microwave turns chemicals into nanoparticles.”
