Governor Cuomo Announces New Proposed Rules Concerning Businesses That Pay Workers With Debit Cards

“Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that the state Department of Labor has published draft regulations to better manage how businesses pay workers with debit cards, in order to help protect workers’ wages … An estimated 13,000 businesses in New York State pay approximately 200,000 workers through debit cards.”

Capital Region Gearing Up For State Money Competition

“This year, the Capital Region Economic Development Council must pick one industry to pitch in the competition for hundreds of millions in New York State money. That’s different from previous years when the council simply submitted the best proposals they received from area business people. The council is co-chaired by Jim Barba, president and CEO of Albany Medical Center, and University at Albany President Robert Jones.”

Expanded Xerox Plant In Webster To Help Meet Market Demand

“Xerox Corp. is increasing its emulsion aggregation toner capacity by 40 percent with the completion of a nearly $35 million expansion project in Webster. The expansion, expected to help Xerox keep pace with growing EA toner product demand, increased the plant size to 155,000 square feet, up from 100,000 square feet, added some $26 million in manufacturing equipment and will create roughly 54 new jobs.”

U.S. Navy Awards Lockheed Martin $27 Million Contract Addition

“The U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT) a more than $27 million modification to a previously awarded contract for sonar-detection systems. Lockheed’s Syracuse–area mission systems and training unit in the town of Salina will perform about two-thirds of the work on the contract, according to a list of contracts posted recently on the website of the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).”
