Cynthia Proctor
Director of Communications and Academic Policy Development, Provost's Office, SUNY System
Cynthia Proctor is the Director of Communications and Academic Policy Development in the Provost’s Office at the State University of New York (SUNY) System. With SUNY for over 20 years, she develops and supports the implementation of SUNY academic policy (applicable to all 64 campuses). Central to her recent work is advancement of SUNY’s award-winning microcredential policy, a dynamic program supporting business/industry hiring and retention needs through the provision of smaller, skills-focused credentials that can be completed in months not years. Whether used to upskill incumbent workers or to help build a new pipeline of workers, SUNY microcredentials provide immediate workforce-ready skills, knowledge and experience while also providing a pathway to additional credentials, a certificate, initial or advanced degree. Ms. Proctor is a nationally and internationally regarded expert in the application of short-term credentials. Ms. Proctor holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Public Relations from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations/Journalism from Utica College.
