“Demand for computer chips and medication has fueled more manufacturing job growth in the Albany, New York, region over the last year than any other metropolitan area in the state. Hiring at the GlobalFoundries computer chip plant in Malta and the Regeneron Pharmaceutical drug development site in East Greenbush helped the Albany region gain 600 manufacturing jobs since November 2014.”
SolarCity Stock Jumps As Tax Credit Extension Receives Federal Backing
“Lawmakers have come to terms on a federal tax credit and funding package and one of the beneficiaries figures to be SolarCity Corp., which will be operating a new manufacturing plant in South Buffalo. The package was deemed as a “major victory” by Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo, who pushed for an extension on the solar Investment Tax Credit, or ITC.”
