The New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NY MEP) has released its latest annual report and is highlighting economic impacts, technology initiatives, and success stories. NY MEP is a network of 11 independent, not-for-profit organizations that cultivate the growth of high-tech industry and help smaller manufacturers modernize.
Advancing Technology Initiatives
The report begins with a brief history of technological advances and explains why Industry 4.0, the latest stage, won’t reach its potential without innovation and expertise. NY MEP centers are championing Industry 4.0, and they’re also advancing technology initiatives from supply chain and advanced materials to cybersecurity and micro-electronics.
Delivering Network Services
To help manufacturers stay competitive in increasingly complex markets, NY MEP provides critical services and expert guidance. Areas include technology adoption and commercialization, planning and research, business improvement, risk management, and business growth. Companies in each of NY MEP’s 10 regions have access to a local center and to FuzeHub, the statewide center.
Celebrating Successes Across the State
The NY MEP Annual Report also include three success stories from across New York State.
- Insyte Consulting, Western New York’s MEP Center, helped a door and window manufacturer to decrease lead times, increase on-time deliveries, and boost throughput.
- LIMEP, the Long Island NY MEP Center, helped a company that assembles and tests electric motors to reduce its work-in-process from 717 to 156 pieces.
- The Center for Economic Growth, the Capital Region’s NY MEP Center, connected a startup to a FuzeHub-owned robot that was used to validate a prototype and begin production.
