It’s Fashion Week in New York City, and while the runways shine with creativity, behind the scenes, New York State manufacturers are weaving innovation into every layer of the industry. From sustainable textiles to smart wearables, NYS is proving that the future of fashion is not just about style, it’s about technology, sustainability, and ingenuity.
At FuzeHub, we’re proud to support companies driving this transformation through our Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund Manufacturing Grants. Awardees include Uncaged Innovations, creators of next-generation bio-leather alternatives; WearOpal, designers of smart wearable technology; and Pvilion, pioneers in solar-powered fabrics, are helping to redefine what fashion can be. Others, such as Made X Hudson, Mimi Prober, and Field to Fiber Company, are putting sustainability at the forefront by supporting small-batch production, natural dyeing, and hemp-based fibers. Together, they exemplify how tradition and technology meet to make New York a leader in textile innovation.
This commitment to fashion technology will be on full display at the upcoming New York State Innovation Summit, October 29–30, in Rochester, NY. One of this year’s featured breakout sessions, “Technology Meets Fashion: Weaving Innovation into New York’s Style Future”, will showcase the cutting-edge work happening across the state. The panel brings together visionaries such as Susan Easton (New York Fashion Innovation Center), Raza Hassan, Ph.D. (IAMBIC), Jen Chiang (WearOpal), and Allison Freedman (UNCAGED Innovations), who are pushing the boundaries of materials science, AI-driven footwear, and sustainable design.
Whether it’s bio-based fabrics, smart sensors stitched into garments, or solar textiles that power our devices, these innovations highlight how New York’s manufacturers are building a more progressive, sustainable, and stylish future.
