Dan Rickman

Dan Rickman is the District Director for SBA’s Syracuse District Office, which serves 34 counties in Central NY, Mohawk Valley, Capital Region, North Country, and Southern Tier. He is responsible for delivery of all SBA programs in the region, which achieve an annual economic impact of over $300 million, including over $250 million in small business loans delivered in partnership with the lending community. He served in multiple roles in the District for over a decade prior to his appointment to lead the office in 2023.  A former entrepreneur himself, Rickman founded a payroll processing firm in Texas that provided comprehensive payroll and HR compliance solutions to small businesses, and that experience strongly informs his work supporting small businesses to this day. An Upstate NY native and current Cayuga County resident, Rickman enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2000 and served in combat operations during the Iraq War.
