The Center for Emerging and Innovative Sciences and the Center of Excellence in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Rochester are hosting the 2025 Finger Lakes Science and Technology Showcase on April 24, 2025 at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, New York.
About the 2025 Showcase
The Showcase is an opportunity for researchers from the University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology, and surrounding universities to present their work to industry to promote collaboration and economic development.
Age of AI Panel Session
This year’s Showcase will include a panel session focused on Computing in the Age of AI. Panelists will provide an overview of the growing computational demands of AI systems in both academic research and industry. They will explore how current infrastructure and computing hardware at many institutions struggle to meet these demands and how initiatives like the Empire AI Consortium are working to address these challenges for academic institutions. The session will also delve into the energy consumption of large AI models, their environmental impact, and strategies to mitigate these effects.
Business/Faculty Networking Pitch Session
Faculty, companies, and organizations will give 3-minute pitches on their research/work and collaboration interests. Join us to learn more and for the possibility to explore new partnerships or collaborations with these industry and academic representatives.
Poster Session Contest
The general categories include AR/VR, Biomedical Technology, Data Science, OPI, and Sensors, Acoustics, and Materials. Students interested in participating in the poster session must complete the Poster Submission form. Submissions are welcome from all areas of Science and Technology. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three posters. To participate fill out the form in the link below.
