Governor Cuomo Announces FuzeHub is Helping Manufacturers Grow in Long Island

Governor Cuomo today announced that FuzeHub, a new statewide initiative to grow manufacturing companies, is successfully finding solutions for businesses across the State – including Long Island companies such as Hydrolutions North America and Solaravy. The collaboration and resource platform works with the New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) program, universities and existing state programs to help connect small and medium-sized manufacturing companies with the solutions they need grow their business. To date, FuzeHub has provided assistance to more than 400 companies in New York State.

New York Manufacturing Gets SMARTT with CGAM

The Center for Global Advanced Manufacturing (CGAM) is building laboratories to provide New York manufacturers with access to state-of-the-art technologies that cost more than many small companies can afford. Known as SMARTT labs, these SUNY Manufacturing Alliance for Research and Technology Transfer (SMARTT) facilities offer access to advanced equipment such as 3D printers and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Manufacturers pay for utilities and materials, but can use SMARTT equipment free-of-charge.

I apologize to my readership for deviating from my usual blogging on Manufacturing Technologies – this article grabbed me so profoundly, I had to share! Besides, it is photonics technology, which is so prevalent in the Upstate NY region, made bode well for a manufacturing opportunity!
A team of scientists and doctors at Washington University of St. Louis, aided by University of Arizona, have developed glasses that have the ability to detect cancer cells! The glasses, already used on February 10 by a surgeon, who was removing a tumor from a breast, proved feasible.
