Less than a month remains until the FuzeHub Commercialization Competition, and the finalists are in the home stretch of preparing for the “pitch.” Up to $50,000 each is at stake for five companies, and it all comes down to those eight minutes – eight minutes that can greatly impact a company’s standing in the competition. Finalists cover a wide variety of industries, including Clean-Tech, IT, Semiconductor, Bio/Life Sciences, and Energy.

The seventeen finalists have been provided the opportunity to work with a consultant to learn best practice techniques regarding content and delivery. “While the presenter should command the audience’s attention, much of their success relies on good supporting material such as prototypes, demos, videos, and pitch decks,” remarked Daniel O’ Sullivan, FuzeHub consultant. Dan’s expertise in analyzing markets, identifying opportunities, discovering and defining product-market fit, cultivating early adopters, and crafting a marketing strategy and positioning will be a valuable resource to these early-stage companies. O’Sullivan went on to comment, “great storytelling is the best way to make the connection. Be that storyteller. Be confident in your story and use your slides as your amplifier.”

Having coached companies through grant wins, venture financings, and appearances on ‘Shark Tank,’ Dan can provide necessary critique and feedback that is an important part of preparing a successful presentation.

Come and see some of New York’s most innovative entrepreneurs in the manufacturing sector as they pitch their ideas in person before a live audience on November 16th at the Hilton Albany. Beginning in November, FuzeHub’s Countdown to the Competition will feature our finalists as they prepare for the “pitch.” Follow the Countdown on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+.
