FuzeHub recently powered a Southern Tier Solutions Forum in partnership with the Alliance for Manufacturing & Technology (AM&T) and Rev:Ithaca.  The February 19th event was called “How to Build Your Manufacturing Business” and was held at the Rev:Ithaca Startup Works, a business incubator in Ithaca, New York that helps startups bring hardware to market. AM&T, the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center for the Southern Tier, invited local contract manufacturers who, along with NYS-funded resources, met with startups seeking connections.
The half-day event began with registration, a light breakfast, and opening remarks from Everton H. Henriques, FuzeHub’s NY MEP Solutions Director. Carol Miller, Executive Director of AM&T, and Ken Rother, Director and Program Lead for the Hardware Accelerator at Rev:Ithaca, also welcomed the attendees. The registrants included 24 clients (companies that FuzeHub matched with resources), 25 resources (NYS-funded organizations and contract manufacturers), and 24 guests. There were also several walk-ins and seven FuzeHub team members on hand.
The keynote speaker for “How to Build Your Manufacturing Business” was Mike Riedlinger, Executive Director of Technology Commercialization at NextCorps, the Finger Lakes’ regional MEP center. Riedlinger than participated in a panel discussion alongside Rev:Ithaca’s Ken Rother, Ed Sayles of Mozaic, Pat Dowse of the New York Alliance for Inclusion and Innovation, Ernie Dodge of JM Murray, Eric Fasser of FuzeHub, Bret Pennefeather of ECK Plastic Arts, Matt Sharpe of Cameron Fabrication and Design, Ahmad Chamseddine of BSU, and Nathan Oakes of Combplex.
The panel, which was moderated by FuzeHub’s Everton Henriques, participated in a lively discussion and welcomed audience participation. Afterwards, the client organizations met with the resources that FuzeHub had matched them with. The Ithaca event also featured a lunch with networking. FuzeHub’s next event, a Machining and Fabricating Solutions Forum in the Capital Region, is scheduled for April 21-22, 2019. Stay tuned for details.
