New York State’s transportation industry will move full-speed ahead and into the future at FuzeHub’s next Manufacturing Forum, “How the North Country Keeps the World Moving”, on April 14, 2021 from 9 AM to 12 PM. As the transportation industry looks beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, companies can gain a competitive advantage by connecting with New York State funded resources that provide business and technical assistance. This on-line, interactive event will also deliver insights from industry leaders and provide plenty of networking opportunities through Remo, our virtual event platform.
“How the North Country Keeps the World Moving” will be co-hosted by NAmTrans, the North American Center of Excellence for Transportation Equipment, and by CITEC Business Solutions, the North Country’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center. TDC, Northern New York’s premiere partner for industrial properties, and Twinstate Technologies, a leading regional provider of IT services, are the event’s gold sponsors. The Workforce Development Institute (WDI), a statewide non-profit that works to grow and keep good jobs in NYS, and the Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) are also sponsoring the April 14th event.
FuzeHub’s Everton H. Henriques, NY MEP Solutions Director, will kick-off the Manufacturing Forum with a 9 AM welcome. Joel Wood, Executive Director at NAmTrans, and Steve Lockwood, Interim Executive Director and Business Development Director at CITEC, will also provide opening remarks. Danielle King, Business Development Manager at TDC, and Devi Momot, CEO of Twinstate Technologies, will then share how their organizations are meeting the needs of the transportation industry as companies pursue growth strategies and address challenges such as cybersecurity.
Elliot G. (Lee) Sander, Senior Vice President of Alstom Americas, will deliver the keynote address at 9:30 AM. The founder of the Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management at New York University, Sander was also President of Bombardier Transportation’s Americas Region from 2018 until the business was acquired by Alstom in January 2021.
Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who represents New York’s 21st District in the U.S. House of Representatives, will highlight the importance of the region’s transportation industry at “How the North Country Keeps the World Moving”. A member of the House Armed Services Committee, Congresswoman Stefanik serves as the Ranking Member on the new Subcommittee on Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems. She is also a member of the Committee on Education and Labor, where she serves on subcommittees for Higher Education and Workforce Investment, and Workforce Protections.
Following the previous speakers, FuzeHub’s Steve Melito, Senior Solutions Specialist, will moderate a panel discussion with leaders from four innovative companies. The participants will be Steve Eaton, Vice President of Operations at Norsk Titanium, Scott McNulty, Vice President of Manufacturing at LC Drives, Michael Backman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Unique Electric Solutions, Inc., and Holly Black, Human Resources Manager at Vapor Stone Rail Systems.
From 10 AM to 12 PM, attendees can meet with NYS-funded resources from around the state and connect with the companies that spoke during the introduction. This Resource Guide lists and describes all of the organizations that will be seated at virtual tables, where attendees can sit in virtual chairs and have video discussions. NYSTAR, Empire State Development’s Division of Science, Technology and Innovation, funds expert resources that can provide assistance in areas such as materials, electronics, sensors, cybersecurity, intellectual property (IP) protection, and business relocation and expansion. Resources in other areas such as trade adjustment, etc. will also be present. Additionally, event attendees can get help with pollution prevention, advanced and sustainable manufacturing, alternative energy, and lean manufacturing.
