Area manufacturing companies can learn how to protect themselves from rising cyber threats during a special event Thursday, December 5 at Stony Brook University (SBU). FuzeHub, the statewide New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership center, will hold a Cybersecurity Forum for Manufacturers at SBU’s Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) Building.
Industry professionals will hear from experts about the latest trends in cybersecurity, and they will participate in a cyber assessment workshop that will focus on new U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) requirements that affect all defense contractors.
Across New York State, more than 1,600 manufacturers have DOD contracts. To retain those and win future contracts, manufacturers must be in compliance with the DOD’s heightened requirements.
“Cyber threats are rising, and manufacturers locally and nationwide are susceptible to attack, especially if they have contracts with the Department of Defense,” said FuzeHub Executive Director Elena Garuc. “New York State has an extensive network of cybersecurity experts ready to answer questions and solve challenges to help companies secure their systems and strengthen their defenses against new and emerging risks.”
To organize the Cybersecurity Forum, FuzeHub is partnering with the MEP National Network, the Manufacturing and Technology Resource Consortium (MTRC) at SBU, the Advanced Institute for Manufacturing (AIM) at Mohawk Valley Community College, MilTech and NYSTAR (Empire State Development’s Division of Science, Technology and Innovation).
Long Island-based business leaders will join experts from across the state and nation to share insights and guidance with manufacturers.
