New York senators push for investment in RIT’s Clean Energy Manufacturing Innovation Institute

Rochester Institute of Technology could be in line to house a new national Clean Energy Manufacturing Innovation Institute. Sens. Charles Schumer and Kristen Gillibrand, both D-N.Y., called on the Department of Energy on Tuesday to award RIT $70 million to lead the institute and a consortium of more than 100 research universities, national laboratories and industrial partners.

Farm cideries booming in New York State

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the number of farm cideries operating manufacturing facilities in New York State has tripled, growing from 8 in October 2014 to 24 today. This growth has been a direct result of the Farm Cideries Legislation, signed on October 17, 2013.

Plattco is a shining example of the way New York State’s Regional Economic Development Council program is designed to work, officials say. New York State Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul visited the company this week to announce the company qualified for $50,000 in Excelsior Tax Credits.
