Siemens to produce turbine parts with 3D printing

Siemens plans to produce spare parts for its gas turbines using 3D technology, the Financial Times reported Friday. The competitor to General Electric Co. said it hopes 3D printing will speed repairs and cut costs. 3D printers use digital files to create three-dimensional objects, one at a time. The technology also is known as additive manufacturing, and has been used for some time in the medical and dental fields. More
