New York is adding 308 private-sector jobs per day
“New York is adding slightly more than 300 private-sector jobs per day, according to an analysis of newly released federal data. The state had a total of 7.95 million private-sector jobs as of last month, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). That represents a gain of 112,600 positions from the July 2015 total of almost 7.84 million.”

Downtown transit center lauded as project of year

With new customers coming in droves, this Albany tech company is hiring
“Bestpass, the Albany, New York, company that uses technology to make tolling and weighing for truck companies easier, is reorganizing its departments to anticipate major growth. In April, Bestpass reached a milestone, signing up its last state in the country (Oklahoma) for its tolling service. With that move, the company has started selling a universal device that lets commercial fleets drive between states without needing dozens of different electronic tolling systems.”

Norsk Titanium building industrial-scale additive manufacturing plant in New York
“Norsk Titanium U.S. is building the world’s first industrial-scale metal additive manufacturing plant by 2017 in Plattsburgh, New York. Officials at the aerospace structural company say the state of New York and the State University of New York (SUNY) Polytechnic Institute have placed an order for 20 Norsk MERKE IV Rapid Plasma Deposition (RPD) machines.”

$78M for AIM Photonics gets final OK
“A key state board on Wednesday approved sending $78 million to the Rochester photonics institute, freeing up the money for equipment and licensing agreements. The Public Authorities Control Board voted unanimously to authorize the transfer to AIM Photonics, the much-touted, public-private partnership announced by Vice President Joe Biden more than a year ago.”

AngioDynamics on hiring spree at Queensbury plant after competitor’s recall
“One of the region’s largest public companies has doubled output at its Queensbury manufacturing location in the past three months. AngioDynamics has hired 50 workers, brought back a retired supervisor and is looking for 25 more people to help make angiographic catheters used in medical imaging procedures. The company is getting a boost to its revenue after a competitor, Cook Medical, recalled many of its angiographic products.”

High Tech Rochester business accelerator delayed to ’17
“In coming weeks, leaders at High Tech Rochester will pick the first batch of startups to occupy its new incubator space. However, those eight to 12 startups won’t be housed on the pre-designated sixth floor of the Sibley Building. That’s because the opening date for HTR’s business accelerator has been extended. Instead of opening this fall, HTR is hoping to have its space available sometime in 2017. The opening is taking longer because HTR has decided to outright buy the sixth floor from the Boston-based property management company that owns Sibley.”
