Highlighted Success Stories

LC Drives

With assistance from the Shipley Center for Innovation at Clarkson University, LC Drives received a $500,000 investment from NYSERDA to help scale its production of ultra-efficient electric motors.

One World Artisans

The thINCubator in Mohawk Valley helped a local group of artisans – from countries including Yemen, Somalia, Syria, Sudan, and Afghanistan – connect with each other and form One World Artisans, LLC. The thINCubator provided marketing, quality control, and business operations to the group in addition to helping them obtain small loans for materials and artisan carts. With all of this help, the collective has been able to sell thousands of dollars’ worth of products and connect better with other members of the city.

Wicked Device

Wicked Device connected with Rev: Ithaca Startup Works, enabling them to develop a prototype for their product, the Air Quality Egg – a reliable and affordable device for measuring air quality. Xanthe Matychak of Rev collaborated with the founders of Wicked Egg to apply for a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. The application was a success, and the team won a grant of $225,000 to expand the Egg’s OS to allow it to be used by teachers and students for conducting scientific experiments.

ShrubBucket.com

ShrubBucket.com is an innovative company with an online store that lets users purchase high-quality, full-size plants directly from the wholesaler. The business is working with Rev: Ithaca Startup Works to perfect its business model and scale its operations. Rev is also supporting ShrubBucket as it extends its services to include adding on sales between wholesalers and other landscaping companies.

Re-Nuble

Re-Nuble has developed a process that transforms food waste into a chemical-free, organic fertilizer used in both soil-based and hydroponic farming. With support from Stony Brook University’s Clean Energy Business Incubator Program (CEBIT), Re-Nuble was one of the winners of the 2017 American Entrepreneurship Award.

Lithoz America

The first ceramic additive manufacturing company to establish a presence in the United States, Lithoz specializes in the development of materials and systems for the 3D printing industry. Innovate 518 is helping the business improve its supply chain and logistics model and explore new capital sources.

Sweetcicle

The Entrepreneur Space at Queens Economic Development Center (QEDC) helps startup food entrepreneurs by providing commercial kitchens that can be rented by the shift at an affordable price. The incubator has worked with over 90 clients, including Sweetcicle – a small batch candy maker. The Entrepreneur Space has been instrumental in Sweetcicle’s increased production and sales, and it has helped the confectioner enter new markets, including Made In Queens.
