The University of Rochester will hold its annual University Technology Showcase on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Memorial Art Gallery, 500 University Ave, Rochester, NY 14607. This annual event attracts more than 250 people and is attended by members of industry, our local universities and other regional organizations.
The Showcase is an opportunity for researchers from the University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology, and surrounding universities to present their work to industry as well as other researchers and organizations that promote economic development. The goal is to stimulate discussions that may lead to industry-university collaboration.
There is over $400 million of sponsored research each year in the Finger Lakes Region. Much of this research has industrial applications and is an opportunity for local businesses to gain awareness of some of the technology being developed which can lead to innovative new products and competitive advantages.
The University Technology Showcase allows industry professionals an exclusive chance to see a snapshot of work in optics, photonics, and imaging (OPI); data science; energy and materials; biomedical technology; and IP being conducted by some of New York’s leading universities. Companies can discuss with the university researchers how their work might be beneficial and explore ways for future collaboration and technology transfer.
It is co-sponsored by the Center for Emerging and Innovative Sciences (CEIS) and the Center of Excellence in Data Science(CoE) at UR. Both centers are funded by the Empire State Development’s (ESD) Division of Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR) to foster university-industry collaboration, research and innovation.
Companies and organizations in attendance in the past or that are planning on attending include: Voice Biometrics, RIT, TechRochester, Xerox, PHlotonics, NYSTAR, Rel8ted.to Analytics, Nextcorps, Nazareth College, Measures for Justice, Nixon Peabody, New York State Science & Technology Law Center, FLX AI, Immersitech, L3Harris, Cornell University, Carestream Health, Alfred University, New Scale Technologies, Innovation Semiconductor.
