Manufacturers Need Workers – and Partners

Manufacturers need capable employees to fill critical positions. Older workers are retiring, and the employees that replace them may leave for other jobs – especially if they’re not given the tools they need to succeed.  That’s true in the North Country, but it also describes a challenge faced by small-to-medium manufacturers from Buffalo to Long Island. What’s the solution?

Steve Lockwood is the Executive Director for CITEC Consulting Group, the North Country’s regional NY MEP Center. In a recent opinion piece for the Press-Republican, he argues that workforce development and technology adoption aren’t enough. They’re important, of course, but manufacturers also need partners with access to expertise and resources.
