Empire State Development is requesting applications from higher education institutions to create Digital Gaming Hubs to raise the public profile of the game sector in New York State. The goal of the funding is to establish three Digital Gaming Hubs which will serve as centers to expand the regional gaming ecosystem. One Gaming Hub will be awarded up to $200,000 per year for three years, and two Gaming Hubs will be awarded up to $150,000 each per year for three years.
Gaming Hubs will create collaborative activities that bring together industry, higher educational institutions, non-profit organizations, students, and individuals to foster the creation of new games or game based companies. These Centers will hold events focused on the gaming community; provide resources and mentoring to encourage students and entrepreneurs to enter into the gaming sector; and assist existing companies with gaming concepts, technologies and trends.
