Advanced Manufacturing Technology Consortia (AMTech) program

Below are the AMTech projects that received funding in NYS:
University of Rochester, The New York Photonics Manufacturing Initiative, $498,430.
The group will work closely with the National Photonics Initiative to develop a national technology roadmap for photonics. It will focus on new technologies and the manufacturing challenges “that, if solved, can strengthen the competitiveness of domestic photonics companies and bring photonics manufacturing back to the United States,” says NIST. The United States was once the leader in photonics; yet now it only produces 10 percent of the global output of photonics components such as fiberoptics, photovoltaics, lasers, digital imaging and flat panel displays — all of which are U.S. inventions

Governor Cuomo Announces FuzeHub is Helping Manufacturers Grow in Long Island

Governor Cuomo today announced that FuzeHub, a new statewide initiative to grow manufacturing companies, is successfully finding solutions for businesses across the State – including Long Island companies such as Hydrolutions North America and Solaravy. The collaboration and resource platform works with the New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) program, universities and existing state programs to help connect small and medium-sized manufacturing companies with the solutions they need grow their business. To date, FuzeHub has provided assistance to more than 400 companies in New York State.

New York Manufacturing Gets SMARTT with CGAM

The Center for Global Advanced Manufacturing (CGAM) is building laboratories to provide New York manufacturers with access to state-of-the-art technologies that cost more than many small companies can afford. Known as SMARTT labs, these SUNY Manufacturing Alliance for Research and Technology Transfer (SMARTT) facilities offer access to advanced equipment such as 3D printers and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Manufacturers pay for utilities and materials, but can use SMARTT equipment free-of-charge.

that was fabricated by a NY manufacturer, using his Selective Laser Sintering Machine. #-D printed bike parts are catching on! Renishaw, the British company that manufactures Additive Manufacturing machines, has collaborated with Empire Cycles in the UK, to produce one of the first, 3-D Printed titanium alloy bike frame. The frame is fabricated in sections from a titanium alloy, then bonded together to form the very light and strong frame. It is 30% lighter than its predecessor.
